Enclosed Pinch Forms

During the process of making the enclosed pinch form, or as Miss.A calls it, the potato,  i realized that there are many aspects for creating this form that correspond with our passed knowledge of pot formation. Such as, pinching the clay to form a semi-spherical form, scoring both of the pots to ensure a strong connection between the two pots, and making a coil to help strengthen the walls. I was introduced to wooden paddles that helped shape the enclosure into was i wanted it to be. I had trouble when i was designing and adding pieces to the pot because i did not want to destroy that form of it. The first steps to this process where a breeze, considering we’ve worked on pinch pots before. All of practice helped with creating an even and constant thickness throughout the pot. Also, rolling a coil, but not as thick as one normally would, was another process I was not foreign to.Lastly, coming up with a creative way to style this blob of hollow clay was a challenge. It was also hard to add pieces of clay onto the enclosed form without messing up the form of the clay. But, luckily, i solved my problem by using one of the tools to connect the two pieces of clay, aided by some slip after i scored my clay.img_20161101_1206094271img_20161101_1206163601img_20160830_1232435291
